The Eight Types of Sic Bo Bets

Sic Bo Strategies

There are eight different ways a sic bo player can bet:

Sic Bo Game Table

1 – Bets can be on one number, which must appear on all three of the dice. The result would be a 1,1,1 or 2,2,2 or 3,3,3 or 4,4,4 or 5,5,5 or 6,6,6. This is known as a “three of a kind.” Because the chance of winning with this bet is so low, it pays 150 to one.

2 – The player can bet on a single number, which must appear on two of the three dice. This is known as a “two of a kind,” and it pays eight to one.

3 – Players can bet that the same number will appear on all three dice, but the number does not have to be specified, as it does in three of a kind. This bet is referred to as “any three of a kind” and it pays 24 to one.

4 – The bet known as “small,” is one in which the player bets that the sum of the three dice will be equal to four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, or 10. Three of a kind is not a winning bet here, so the ‘three’ (three ones) does not count as a winning bet. Three twos and three threes do not count as winner here, either. This bet pays even money.

5 – The bet known as “big” also pays even money. Here, the player bets that the sum of the three dice will be equal to 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, or 17. Again, Three of a kind is not a winning bet here, so the 18 (three sixes) does not count as a winner, nor do three fours or three fives.

6 – One can bet that the sum of the three dice will be a number between four and 17. The payout depends on the sum. If the player correctly guesses four or 17, the payout is 50 to one. Correct guesses of nine, 10, 11, or 12 pay six to one.

7 – The player can bet on two different numbers that have to appear on at least two of the three dice. This bet is known as “duo,” and payment is five to one.

8 – In a “one of a kind” bet, the player bets on a single number that must appear on one, two, or all three of the dice. If the number chosen appears on one of the three dice, the player receives even money. If the number chosen appears on two of the three dice, the player is paid two to one. If the number chosen appears on three of the three dice, the player is paid three to one.
